Sometimes we compete in unconventional ways.

What a great weekend for Philly Ciclismo ‘Cross!  Three wins were achieved through hard fought racing by Stephan Kincaid in the 35+ Masters Elite cat and by Shane Watters in the 2/3/4 B Mens race.  Stephan walked away from the weekend with wins at both days of the Nittany Lion MAC #1 and #2 UCI events.  Shane took his win on day #1 and a very impressive 3rd place on day #2.  The rest of large contingent of PC racers mix-up it up with notable success.  A few top 10 and top 20 results add to the points totals and will get our racers call-ups for the upcoming Charm City Cross MAC #2 and #3 races this weekend.  Congrats to Stephan and Shane on amazing rides!!!!

The Philadelphia Ciclismo “bells and bones” were well represented at “Nittany Cross” this past weekend. The race course wove through grass and wooded areas encircling the Valley Preffered Cycling Center Velodrome in Trexlertown, PA. Seventeen members of PC participated in the event. Sporting their new team kits which celebrate Cannondale’s 30 anniversary, the group raced well in several events. The course was still particulartly wet from the remnants of Hurricane Irene, which made for a muddy, messy race. With over 500 people racing, plus hundreds of spectators and support crew, the area was alive all weekend. Besides simply enjoying the race and supportive race scene, there was a lot to celebrate in the Philly Ciclismo team tent. Stephan Kincaid won the Masters 35+ category 1/2/3/4 race each day. Shane Watters won the Category 2/3/4 (B Men) race Saturday, with another excellent placing Sunday. Other team members had great placing as well. The team’s effort now gives Philadelphia Ciclismo the leader’s jerseys in two different classes within the “Mid Altlantic Cross” (MAC) 2011 series. In addition, the team holds second place in the team ranking. PC would again like to thank it’s sponsors for support. Cannondale bikes supplied by Cadence Cycling Center in Manayunk, PA were key to the success this weekend. The team’s other sponsors also play major roles in the promotion and success within Cyclocross racing in the PC team and the Mid Altlantic region.

Craig Lebair won the “Midnight at the Marsh night XC race” in the Elite Single speed class.  As if racing mountain bikes wasn’t tough enough, these guys did it in the middle of the night with lights.  He is clearly excited in this podium picture.

Joey took second place in the Category 3, Pennsylvania State TT Championships.  He was separated from a win by a mere 2 seconds.  Great job Joey!

Congratulations to Chris Newport for a hard fought 2nd place finish at the 2011 Iron Hill Criterium.
